The second event of 2022 was held at the West Lake at the DDAPS Horton Kirby complex on Thursday 16th June and was a coarse fishing event.  The event was supported by 15 volunteers giving their time to make a successful event variously looking after the catering and help as well as coaches to cast for the guests.  The hosted school was Nexus School from Tonbridge with 10 children and 3 carers attending and we were supported by APGM Andrew Waddington.

Many fish were caught and there was much evidence of the recent closed season for spawning with thousands of fry to see. There was a significant presence of wild fowl in the water and on the paths for more countryside pointers given to our charges and enrich their day with even more memories.

A convivial lunch was provided which was followed by presentation of various awards.  Every child also received a framed certificate of achievement and a goody bag.

We caught a lot of Smiles!

The success of these events relies largely on the community of volunteers that run the event from organising, catering, transport, coaching, first aid etc.  The hosted school party are not charged for these events so over time the funds that are at the committee’s disposal dwindles.
