West Kent Widows Sons

Widows Sons Masonic Bikers Association (West Kent)

The Widows Sons is an International Association open to all Freemasons who enjoy motorcycling and have a desire to ride with and associate with their fraternal brothers.  It is the only Masonic Bikers Association (MBA) in the UK that is formally recognised by the United Grand Lodge of England, although we are not a Lodge.

Our aims are to:

  • Introduce the pleasures of motorcycling to our Masonic Brothers
  • Raise Masonic Awareness in the world of motorcycling
  • Support our regular Masonic Lodges and Chapters through regular attendance and assisting with or attending lodge events
  • Support charitable causes

Whilst our members wear identifying regalia (aka patches), the Widows Sons is not a biker gang, or Motorcycle Club. We are bound by the Masonic ‘Book of Constitutions’ and are expected to represent the fraternity in a positive light at all times.

Charity

Widows Sons West Kent (WSWK) chapter serves to raise money for charitable causes within the Province of West Kent:

Annual Toy Run Appeal: Our flagship event!  The annual ‘Toy Run’ appeal raises in excess of £3,000 annually which goes towards the purchase of toys and gifts at Christmas for disadvantaged children living within our community, bringing a little joy to the hearts of those that most deserve it at this important time of year.

SERV (Service by Emergency Response Volunteers) Kent: Part of the National Association of Blood Bikes, providing invaluable support to the NHS, Kent Surrey Sussex Air Ambulance, and vulnerable patients within the community.  WSWK has a number of serving members (aka Blood Bikers) and regularly collects and donates money to this important charity.

Masonic Awareness

The Widows Sons help promote and increase Masonic membership through their presence and visibility at public motorcycle events and rallies.  Widows Sons has chapters throughout the United Kingdom and each chapter is encouraged to sponsor and/or participate in local charity initiatives, both Masonic and non-masonic.

Social

Breakfast Meetings – Each month WSWK hosts an informal, social breakfast meeting, at different venues across the Province.

Natter Nights – On a monthly basis, a more formal meeting (aka ‘Natter Night’) is held, where the affairs of the chapter are managed, matters arising discussed, and decisions on future rides, events and charity are agreed.

Ride-outs & Events – Informal ride-outs are planned for most weekends (weather permitting).  In addition, WSWK may attend county events and rallies where we aim to promote Widows Sons and Freemasonry, as well as collect for our chosen charities.

Members, non-members, friends and families alike are all welcome to attend any of our ride-out or events.  So come along, see what we do and if it is something that you would like to be a part of, get involved!
