In my video message on 15 April, I was delighted to announce the launch of the West Kent Emergency Fund (WKEF), which was created to provide financial support to members who may be suffering financial distress as a result of the Covid 19 outbreak and to assist Community projects.

Since that time, I am pleased to report that several our members who, through no fault of their own, have found themselves in financial hardship and have made applications to and received financial support from the WKEF. Each and every member of the Province of West Kent is highly valued by me, and I want to ensure that no member in financial distress feels unsupported or, worse still, disposed to resign from their Lodge or Chapter and withdraw from a pastime that we all enjoy so much.

In these difficult times, it is more important than ever before that we ensure the welfare of our membership – the phrase “we are all Almoners” has rarely had a more purposeful meaning now than before.

Should you become aware of a member who might welcome some assistance or support, do encourage them to visit the Member Welfare section on our Provincial website, or to contact Neil Moakes, who was recently appointed as Provincial Grand Almoner – on 07739.249398 or at ProvGAlm@westkentmasons.org.uk

Key points to note:
  • Personal grants of up to £400 are available and application forms can be found at https://westkentmasons.org.uk/members-welfare
  • Helpful links to other organisations that may also be able to offer assistance are provided, and confidential support from the Provincial Grand Almoner’s team, should it be required.
  • The WKEF Grants Committee meets several times a week to consider applications, and funds are normally transferred within 24 hours of approval.
  • Applications for grants to support worthy community causes are also encouraged, with further details being available on the Member Welfare page.

Please do not hesitate to apply for support, should you require any assistance.

Kindest regards

Yours Sincerely and fraternally,

Provincial Grand Master – Grand Superintendent
