Tunbridge Wells Masonic Hall hosted this Sunday 5th December a presentation of drums to TS Brilliant, the Tunbridge Wells Sea Cadet Unit. The old drums were about 40 years old and uneconomic to repair. A fundraising campaign raised £10K in 10 months to replace 12 drums.

In the temple, the drums were blessed by the Reverend David Houston, and each drum was then presented by the donor to an individual cadet. After the presentation the cadets played a medley of band music, which was outstanding.

Holmesdale Lodge 874 meeting at TWMC has a very close association with the Sea Cadets and with TS Brilliant in particular and have hosted joint events for a number of years, including barbeques, Sunday lunches and Trafalgar Nights.

Daniel Cooper, the DC of Holmesdale Lodge is the chairman of TS Brilliant.

This is another good example of Tunbridge Wells freemasons working with and supporting the local community. A number of the guests also had questions about the Temple, and freemasonry, which we were pleased to discuss with them.
