The West Kent Emergency Fund of The Province of West Kent recently made a donation of £1000 to Mr Mark Addy of Design Etch Cut who is making full face acrylic masks on a laser cutter in a warehouse in Northfleet. The money will enable the purchase of supplies so that these masks can be donated free of charge to local hospitals, hospices, maternity units and care homes as well as hospitals as far afield as Exeter and Cambridge! His friend W.Bro Tom Weaver who is the proprietor of the premises is supplying the space and the electricity free of charge to assist this wonderful cause. The deliveries are being taken care of by a team of motorcycle volunteers to ensure that the 200 or so masks made each day reach the front line as soon as possible!
The masks are made to an improved design created by the University of Bath and are fully adjustable to fit any head – however big! They are made from a fully sterilisable acrylic and will protect vital staff wherever they are needed.
Dr. Helen Clayton of The Oaks Surgery in Swanley told us
“We are very grateful for these masks, they will be very useful! They will be used by all the medical practitioners (Doctors nurses and so on) in the building”
Mr. Mark Estaugh, Provincial Grand Master of West Kent Freemasons, said:
“It is great to see that West Kent Freemasons are assisting in the production of vital equipment in the fight against Covid 19”
