Since the lifting of the Masonic suspension and the subsequent introduction of the Rule of Six, we have been supportive of those Lodges and Chapters that wished to hold meetings in a COVID secure environment, whilst fully respecting the wishes of those members who wished to remain isolated.

Given yesterday’s changes in Government legislation, which will place London into High Risk (Tier 2) status from midnight tonight, our Masonic Centres in the London Boroughs of Bexley and Bromley – together with any other meeting venue in those Boroughs – will be bound by Tier 2 restrictions. To prevent any inadvertent breach of the law and under a duty to ensure the safety of the Craft, its members as well as the general public, our Masonic Centre at Bromley will remain closed, with the centres at Welling and Sidcup confirming that they will now close for Masonic meetings, which will curtail Lodge and Chapters meeting at those venues.

The rest of our Masonic Centres fall under Tier 1, meaning that Lodge and Chapter meetings can continue to be held, provided that the Rule of Six is complied with. Lodges and Chapters meeting at venues in Tier 1 MUST liaise with their respective Centres in advance of the meeting, to confirm that only those members living in Tier 1 areas will be in attendance.

As circumstances may change in the future, we would refer you to the latest Government advice, which can be found at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/local-covid-alert-levels-what-you-need-to-know

Further updates will be issued by the Provincial Communications team, should there be a further change in Government guidance.

Yours Sincerely and fraternally,
Mark Estaugh

Provincial Grand Master – Grand Superintendent
