Brethren,
It is my sad duty to inform you of the death of Worshipful Brother Fergus Gordon Anckorn, Past Provincial Senior Grand Warden.
Fergus was born on the 10th December 1918 and Initiated into Knole Lodge No 1414 on 2nd December 1958; he would have been 100 years old in December and he would also have completed 60 years in the Craft.
He was a conjurer (Wizardus), who was the longest serving member of the Magic Circle, having joined at 18 (their youngest member).
During World War II, he served in the British Army, was captured by the Japanese during the fall of Singapore and forced, as a prisoner of war, to work on the Burma Railway and the famous Bridge on the River Kwai.
He had a very full and varied life.
Full details of arrangements will be promulgated in due course.
James Marsh
