On Saturday 17th October, following the meeting of the West Kent Lodge of Charity 9610, Brethren and guests received a talk from Mr. Mark Lockyer, a local businessman and keen supporter of the Ellenor charity. He explained that the new brand name was ellenor.x – the x representing a kiss. This subsumed the Ellenor Lions Hospice and chYps Children’s Hospice. The new brand had been launched on 7th April 2015. Mark explained for those that were not aware that the name was derived from Ellen and Norman – the parents of the founder. He further explained that the Ellenor charity is not part of the NHS and that it costs in the order of £6.7m/yr to run and is funded mainly through charitable giving plus business and lottery donations. Mark went on to explain some of the upcoming events and the objectives of the charity with some of the services that it can offer.
Following the talk, the Worshipful Master was pleased to present a cheque for £250 to the charity which Mark received on their behalf.
