CALM APPEAL NEWS
Community Appeal for Local Mayors
Ever since Remembrance Day began in 1919, we have fallen silent on the eleventh hour, of the eleventh day, of the eleventh month. From the end of the First World War to conflicts in more recent times, and from war memorials across Britain and to our homes, we have joined together in quiet reflection.
These moments help us to remember the fallen to ensure that their sacrifices are never forgotten.
The coin above is traditionally struck as an Alderney coin, the first official UK Remembrance Day £5 coin. It is in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and is presented in a vivid fold-out wallet exploring remembrance traditions.
At the recent meeting of West Kent Wheel of Friendship Lodge the coin above was offered for auction with proceeds being donated to the CALM appeal.
During the auction, it raised £57 and was won by W. Bro Micky Moore of Borough of Greenwich Lodge, who then promptly donated it to the PGM to be auctioned again for charitable purposes.
We are now offering it for auction
The latest bid is £100
Bids will close at midnight on Sunday 17th December
All proceeds will be donated to the CALM appeal.
