Participants in the car rally struck lucky again with the weather this year. They met at Oakley house under clear blue skies for bacon rolls and hot drinks. The glorious sunshine continued as the convoy of 25 cars meandered through the lanes of the beautiful Kent countryside to their destination, the renowned Hush Heath Winery at Staplehurst.

There, many took advantage of the wines and ciders which complemented the picnic lunch organised for the event. The Provincial Grand Master designate, Mark Estaugh declared the distance he travelled to be 50.1 miles, and the prize of a bottle of Hush Heath sparkling Brut Rose was won by Jean Evans for guessing the correct distance. Laura Estaugh drew the raffle and presented the prizes, all proceeds of which went to the Association of Friends of Prince George Duke of Kent Court, Chislehurst. The total amount raised was £1,000. Finally an extremely interesting and informative guided tour of the winery had been arranged, followed by an opportunity to taste several wines and ciders.
